This blog is designed to support academics and professionals involved in research to get help in finding funding to support their research ideas. The focus is on hints and tips regarding grant writing and career development but the blog will be wider than this and provide links to resources as well as hopefully offering some different perspectives and thoughts on the research funding process. The focus of the site will be on social science and humanities disciplines but many of the hints and tips will be applicable more generally.

The site is managed by Lachlan Smith, Research Funding Bid Writer for Leeds Trinity, Newman and Bishop Grosseteste Universities. Lachlan previously provided research development support for the Social Science Faculty including Warwick Business School at the University of Warwick.  In addition Lachlan also works with St Mary’s University and Leeds Beckett University (School of Education and Childhood). Prior to this Lachlan undertook economic development and evaluation consultancy work as well as having extensive policy and operational experience within the public sector in the UK and Australia. Lachlan has managed public sector procurement processes in the employment and skills field, giving him additional insights into accessing funding from the funders viewpoint. More information on Lachlan can be found here. Lachlan is currently undertaking a PhD at the University of Leicester and more information about his research interests can be found here.
